KC Tech Academy, a non-profit organization, is an advanced manufacturing training program currently serving high school students and soon adding an adult program as well. In partnership with Northland Career Center, our 2-year competency based program is being conducted at the NCC location in Platte City. KC Tech is the organization that will bring industry and education together for a great experience and market value asset for our students teaching the high-tech skills many manufacturers are seeking. Being the main driver for curriculum development within the program, KC Tech’s main goal is to focus on practical hands-on skills that are relevant and many businesses are seeking by an instructor with excellent industry experience. We are building a successful pipeline of workforce ready students excited about a career in manufacturing with the soft skills needed to be successful upon graduation. Another important initiative for KC Tech is to increase awareness with consistent outreach to students, parents, and our community about the many high-tech and well paying roles available in this industry to increase the number of students going into manufacturing after graduation. The KC Tech Academy mission is: KC Tech Academy delivers industry-led education to empower life-ready manufacturing professionals.

ABOUT THIS PROGRAM: This program gives students an understanding of the processes involved in the manufacturing and production fields. Students will gain hands-on experience working with state-of-the-art equipment similar to what large companies are using to make the products we use everyday. The fundamentals taught in this class related to programming, troubleshooting, maintaining, and operating machine equipment will allow students to earn their Certified Production Technician Certification. A good portion of the class will cover commercial electronics and fluid power. Students may find jobs in the areas of Industrial Maintenance, Robotics, Machining, Transportation & Logistics, Welding, Production, HVAC, and Industrial Electrical.

PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR

sayre

Mr. Sayre joined the NCC staff in the fall of 2020. He has more than two decades of manufacturing/production experience in a wide range of fields. He's performed nearly every job from Apprentice Mechanic to Controls Engineer and eventually worked his way up to the plant Industrial Maintenance Manager. He studied Industrial Maintenance at MCC Business and Technology Center early in his career. The chances are good that if it has something to do with manufacturing or production technology, he's either done it or been part of a team working on it. He's also had the privilege to work with Oak Park High School Robotics as a mentor for the past several years. "I'm excited to join NCC," Sayre said. " I am looking forward to sharing my experience and knowledge in these high demand fields with the next generations."
